The Oxford Police Department arrested two men in connection with the Quintard Mall shooting on Saturday.
Lecroy Derron Wallace Jr., age 20, of Talladega, is charged with attempted murder. Malachi Zymere Taylor, age 19, of Anniston, was arrested on a bond revocation and is charged with reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
Chief Bill Partridge said one person was injured in the shooting and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The shooting occurred during the release of the Air Jordan 5 Wolf Grey sneakers.
"Let me be clear: If you come to our city to commit acts of violence, you will be identified, arrested, and held accountable," Partridge stated. "I want to personally thank our officers and investigators for their dedication, professionalism, and tireless work in bringing this case forward. Their commitment to protecting our community is unwavering."
Bonds have not been set for the two suspects. They are considered innocent until proven guilty.
