The Greater Birmingham Humane Society (GBHS) is asking for the public's help to identify men who threw a dog into a dumpster.
The incident was caught on camera around 10:45 a.m. on February 19. Footage shows the men getting out of a white work truck carrying lumber.
They threw the dog, which was alive and in a garbage bag, into the dumpster in an alleyway between 2nd Avenue South and 3rd Avenue South.
GBHS CEO Allison Black Cornelius asked anyone with information to come forward. She said up to $10,000 in rewards are given for information leading to the arrest and conviction of these types of crimes.
"I don't know about y'all, but I'm tired of these stories, and I'm really tired of these cases," said Cornelius. "We are going to have to start holding these people accountable if we want it to stop."
A citizen jumped into the dumpster and rescued the dog. The male Australian shepherd, named Patches, survived and is being treated.
