Mobile Airport Authority executive director Andy Wilson is stepping down. The Authority announced the leadership change on Tuesday.
"In late October of 2024, Andy Wilson onboarded as Mobile Airport Authority's Executive Director," said Mobile Airport Chairman Sandy Stimpson. "At the time, the Brookley terminal project needed a person with both construction and operational experience. Since then, he has helped navigate MAA during this crucial time and was one of the primary forces to getting the terminal project back on budget. Andy's institutional knowledge and his expertise in aviation project development have teed the new terminal up for success."
Stimpson said Wilson's decision to step down was a personal decision.
"We wish him nothing but the best as he devotes more time to his family in Florida," Stimpson added. "I am grateful that, should the need arise, I will be able to reach out to Andy for his advice."
Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis said he is thankful for the work Wilson and the board have put into the new terminal.
"I want to commend Andy Wilson for his leadership of the Mobile Airport Authority," said Cheriogotis. "Working closely with the board, he has helped get the Mobile International Airport terminal project back on budget, with substantial completion expected this fall. His aviation expertise and strong relationships with federal partners have been invaluable. I'm grateful to the board and staff for their continued focus and professionalism during this transition, and I'm confident we will identify the right executive director to lead MAA into its next chapter."
The board will appoint an acting executive director on Wednesday. Construction and operations at the Mobile International Airport will continue without interruption.
