Angus Cooper II and Angus Cooper III, Mobile businessmen, made two donations of $25,000 to former University of Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron last week.
McCarron, a Mobile native, announced in October that he was running as a Republican candidate for lieutenant governor in the 2026 election cycle.
According to the Alabama Secretary of State's website, the Coopers donated $50,000 to McCarron last week. The donations are the first reported donations to the political newcomer's campaign.
McCarron is running against Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen, Agriculture and Industries Commissioner Rick Pate and Nicole Wadsworth.
An official with the McCarron campaign didn't respond to a request for comment.
