The Mobile City Council is considering approving a bid to build the new arena that will replace the Mobile Civic Center.
B.L. Harbert International, LLC's bid was $237 million, $18 million less than the projected $255 million.
Hoar Construction submitted a bid for $252.6 million and JESCO Inc. submitted a bid for $260 million.
The resolution to approve the B.L. Harbert International, LLC contract was introduced Tuesday. It will be voted on in the next regular city council meeting on February 25.
Harbert also built hangars at Airbus and is currently working on the University of South Alabama medical school.
Construction on the new, state-of-the-art entertainment arena is set to begin in March. The new $300 million arena will hold over 10,000 people and have a lifespan of 50 years.
Also, during the council meeting on Tuesday, an ordinance to increase the city's lodging tax from 8% to 10% was held back another week as officials reviewed a spreadsheet showing the proposed distribution of the lodging tax funds.
