The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man following another investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit.

Hubert Eugene Richardson, Jr., 40, is charged with five counts of unlawful possession with intent to disseminate child pornography and five counts of unlawful possession of child pornography.

The ICAC unit received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding suspected child sexual abuse material being distributed through an online platform. Deputies executed a search warrant on Thursday and worked with state and federal authorities to identify the suspect.

"This arrest reflects our unwavering commitment to protecting children and aggressively pursuing those who exploit them online," said Sheriff Paul Burch. "Our ICAC investigators work tirelessly alongside our law enforcement partners to identify offenders, rescue victims, and hold those responsible accountable."

Burch created the ICAC unit, which is a network of 61 coordinated task forces, to investigate and raise public awareness of internet crimes against children. Burch said parents should remain involved in their children’s online activities by monitoring internet usage and discussing online safety.

Suspicious activity can be reported to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office at 251-574-8633.
