The teacher of a four-year-old student at Collins-Rhodes Elementary was arrested after the child was placed in ICU for days following an incident with alcohol.
On April 28, the child was sent home with a blood alcohol level of .29 – four times the legal limit. The child was described as “limp and lethargic.”
She was admitted to the USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital, where she received care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. She was discharged from the hospital on April 30.
The child told Mobile County Sheriff’s Office detectives her teacher had given her a drink that made her feel sick.
After an extensive investigation, deputies arrested Tracy Walker and charged her with aggravated child abuse. She was placed in the Mobile Metro Jail and will have a bond hearing on Thursday.
