Mobile Fire-Rescue Department (MFRD) confirmed one firefighter was injured in an afternoon fire Sunday.

The firefighter had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. There is no word on the condition of the firefighter.

The fire happened around 4:25 p.m. at a home in the 2100 block of Height Street in Mobile.

“The first units arrived within a couple of minutes and reported seeing heavy smoke and flames visible from a vacant single story residence,” MFRD stated. “Truck 24 arrived on scene first and advised the house was fully involved. Other crews arrived and personnel began efforts to extinguish the fire, as well as search for anybody inside the structure.”

The fire was extinguished, and no one was found inside the home.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
