Mobile County Republican Executive Committee (MCREC) chairman Ken Kvalheim resigned his position Monday, a year and a half after taking the helm.
Kvalheim, who has been a member of the local and state party since 1983, was elected in January 2025. He is the former vice president of the Mitchell Company and once served on the Board of Trustees for the University of South Alabama.
Stuart Lang, the current vice chairman of the executive committee, was named acting chairman.
“We are deeply grateful for the service of long-time member Ken Kvalheim,” said Lang. “Ken served in the legislature and has been a strong party member when the Republicans were in the minority. We are appreciative of his dedication and look forward to his continued support.”
Kvalheim plans to continue to support the party.
Looking forward, Lang said the party will focus on the November 3 general election.
“Our party is focused on our November elections and will continue to work toward securing our races with Senator Tuberville leading our ticket as our nominee for governor,” he added.
The Mobile County GOP will elect a new official chairman at its next quarterly meeting on October 5.
