The City of Mobile is using the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) to make sidewalk improvements and increase walkability throughout each of the seven districts.

Mobile Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis shared an update on the sidewalk and ADA ramp repairs.

“This is one of the many important infrastructure upgrades funded by the one-cent sales tax dedicated to capital projects,” Cheriogotis stated. “Most recently, you may have seen our contractor, Chris Brewer Construction, adding around Cottrell and Alba streets in District 3, Warren and Texas streets in District 2, and in the Lebaron Woods area of District 7.”

Cheriogotis said millions of dollars have been invested in sidewalks and roadways.

“Each year, the CIP is investing millions of dollars into sidewalks and roadways through a collaborative process with citizens and the members of the Mobile City Council,” he explained. “That’s in addition to all the incredible enhancements the CIP is funding in our parks and public spaces. If you aren’t seeing CIP work happening in your area, you will soon.”

The newly elected mayor said one of the largest street resurfacing packages will soon get underway.
