Don't you know that I'm still standing better than I ever did?
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid.
I'm still standing after all this time.

You would expect Ben Frey to have a Southern accent, being born and raised in the deepest place of the deep South, Mobile, Alabama.

Sound like Mobile radio’s Uncle Henry?  Sound like Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson?

Maybe he does a bit, in talking. But in singing, Frey has developed and maybe perfected an Elton John sound.  Think British.

And he’s got the Elton John look, too.  How did he do that?  Maybe I can interview him when he’s here and ask him these impertinent questions.

He comes home to South Alabama March 22-23 and performs his 'Still Standing’ tribute to Elton John at Foley’s OWA Theater.   Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. each night.

Here is the official description of the show from OWA:

Immerse yourself in the legacy and extraordinary music of the iconic Sir Elton John.  Close your eyes, and you will believe you are listening to Elton in person, as the incredible Ben Frey looks, sounds and performs his incredible music catalogue to perfection!  Expect ALL of the huge hits including:  Candle in the Wind, Rocket Man, Bennie & the Jets, Tiny Dancer, Your Song, Circle of Life and Crocodile Rock among many others!

Born and raised in Mobile, AL, Ben “Almost Elton” Frey has been referred to as the closest representation of Elton’s look and vocals on the Tribute Circuit. Ben and his band of professionals are dedicated to working on every detail that makes for an incredible Elton John experience.

And to add to the interest, the show will be an early celebration of Elton John’s 77th birthday, which is on March 25. He was born in Pinner, England March 25, 1947.  Still standing after 77 years.
