The City of Mobile is asking for the public’s input on a new parks district along the Mobile Bay.

Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis said the purpose is to expand recreational options while protecting critical habitats. He said leadership wants to get ideas from the public on preferred amenities and vision along three development zones. Amenity options include a bird watching station, kayak launch, learning hub, restrooms and a boardwalk.

The areas are the Perch Creek Preserve, McNally Park and the former location of the Ziebach Water Treatment plant.

“Our overall vision is a connected network of parks and public spaces that furthers the city’s commitment to expanding public access to our beautiful waterfront,” Cheriogotis said. “These spaces belong to Mobilians, and we have launched an online survey to gather information on what residents would like to see in them.”

The survey is available through April 20.
