A mother and her daughter were killed in a tragic crash involving an Amtrak passenger train and a vehicle.
The crash occurred at Bellingrath Road near Peary Road at 6:51 a.m. on Saturday.
Brittany Williams, 31, the driver of the car, and her 8-year-old daughter were pronounced dead on the scene.
The train left Mobile at 6:30 a.m., heading for New Orleans. Just 20 minutes into the route, the crash occurred. The train traveled 21,000 feet after impact before it could stop.
Mobile Fire-Rescue Department responded along with police and determined the crossing arms, audible signal and flashing lights were functioning properly at the time of the collision.
No passengers on the train were injured.
