The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a man in connection to the rape of a child under 14.

Joseph McDonald, 59, of Monroeville, was arrested on March 30 and charged with 13 counts of second-degree rape.

According to a complaint, McDonald is accused of having sexual intercourse with a victim under the age of 14 on March 1, 2024.

Second-degree rape is a Class B felony. McDonald was placed in the Monroe County Jail on $50,000 per charge, totaling $650,000. His attorneys have asked for a bond reduction.

Sheriff Tom Boatwright said the investigation is ongoing, and there could be additional charges.

McDonald is considered innocent until proven guilty.
