The Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division confirmed a monster catch out of Lake Guntersville.
Forrest Winters reeled in an 84.3-pound catfish. The giant catfish is still significantly smaller than the state record of 120 pounds. That catfish was caught in Holt Reservoir by John Paul Nichols in 2012.
Winters posted photos of his catch on Facebook and commented that he had to sit down for a break after catching the fish and before taking the picture.
