The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting in Montgomery.
The incident began Thursday morning when police were called to a shooting and armed robbery of a vehicle. An individual had been shot and taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police were notified that the suspect fled the scene in the victim's vehicle. The vehicle was located on Upper Wetumpka Road, where state and local law enforcement attempted a traffic stop.
The driver, Raymond Tellis Jr., 19, of Montgomery, resisted arrest and pulled a firearm from his waistband.
A special agent with ALEA's State Bureau of Investigation fired at Tellis, fatally wounding him.
No officers were injured.
Special agents from outside the Montgomery area were called in to investigate. Findings will be turned over to the Alabama Attorney General's Office.
