The Montgomery Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own after an unexpected medical event. Corporal David Michael Hathcock passed away on Monday, just one day after his 48th birthday.
“He dedicated his life to watch over the city of Montgomery and the citizens that we cherish,” the police department stated. “On and off-duty, he honored his oath to live a life that was exemplary to all. He was courageous, calm in the face of danger and honest in thought and deed.”
Hathcock joined the Montgomery Police Department in 2006.
The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Capitol City Lodge said Hathcock was a loving husband and father.
“His commitment to his family and to serving the citizens of Montgomery will never be forgotten,” the FOP stated. “His professionalism, compassion, and service to this community made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.”
The police department and loved ones are asking for prayers. Friends have set up a GoFundMe page to benefit Hathcock’s wife and two daughters.
