Montgomery Whitewater officials announced on Friday that its “on-water operation” would be closed for approximately one month.

A Montgomery Whitewater spokesperson said on Facebook the closure was due to water filtration system maintenance.

“Montgomery Whitewater will temporarily pause on-water operations for approximately one month while our water filtration system undergoes maintenance,” the spokesperson said. “This proactive step reflects our commitment to maintaining the highest standards for water quality and the overall guest experience. While the water is taking a short break, the rest of the park is still open and ready for you. Spend the day on the trails, take on the ropes course, grab a bite at Eddy’s, or enjoy time outside with friends and family.”

The park first opened its doors on July 8, 2023, following years of negotiations and a combination of funding from a bond, funded by the county's 2% rental tax, as well as money from the State, County, City and the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.

However, project costs continued to rise throughout the building process, necessitating repeated petitions for additional financing.
