Jackson Hospital in Montgomery recently began diverting some cardiac patients to other hospitals.

Keith Adamson, a spokesman for Jackson Hospital, said in a statement to 1819 News on Wednesday, “Jackson Hospital notified regional emergency medical services (EMS) that we are diverting cardiac catheterization patients to other area hospitals due to a repair on the Cardiac Catheterization Lab’s battery transfer system.”

“Depending on the patient’s condition, our team of cardiologists and those at the accepting institution will determine the best hospital choice for the patient. Out of an abundance of caution for patient safety, no elective cardiac catheterization procedures will be performed until the repair is complete,” Adamson said. “We are awaiting delivery of a part for the battery transfer system to complete the repair.”

Jackson Hospital is currently undergoing a “financial restructuring” after missing a bond payment in September.
