After years of silence on the Epstein files, Democrats' efforts to try to hurt President Donald Trump by forcing their release have "totally backfired," according to U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise).

"I think really what we did yesterday exposed the Democrats in a way that the media couldn't cover," Moore said Wednesday on WVNN's "The Yaffee Program" about the passing of the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

"I think the media was trying to claim Trump, Trump, Trump, and then we come to find out it was actually two sitting members of Congress on the Democrat Party that were tied very closely. As a matter of fact, Hakeem Jeffries, the minority leader, was soliciting Epstein for donations after he was a convicted felon, after he was identified as a pedophile and trafficking children. Hakeem was still inviting to events and requesting money from him. There were things like that that came out in the release of these files. It's almost like the Democrats were a dog chasing a car, and now they've got it, they don't know what to do with it."

Moore continued, "I think that Trump knew the media was going to be in the tank, and even if you saw the redacted three or four letters the Dems released to try to hurt Trump. And we released 26,000 pages. I mean, Oversight had actually subpoenaed Epstein's estate. That's where we found out that Stacey Plaskett, who was a Democrat representative from down in the Virgin Islands. Everybody knew what Epstein was doing down there. She represented that area, and she was texting Epstein during a hearing for Michael Cohen, who was Trump's attorney, and Epstein was telling her what questions to ask to hurt President Trump. That narrative had continued. The media was doing everything they could to try to tie Trump to Epstein. And ultimately, it was the Democrats that had the ties. We knew Bill Clinton had flown, I don't know how many times, on the Lolita Express, and Epstein had a painting of Clinton in a blue dress in the entrance to his house in New York.

"I think Trump realized, hey, the media and these guys are going to spin, spin, spin this thing. Let's just pull back the veil. Let's put it out there… The big picture was: we need to just go ahead, be transparent, roll it out with the president, give us a green light, and let the people see what was really in the Epstein files, and his estate, and in the data, the information that we had. And honestly, it has totally backfired. I haven't seen much media this morning, but I don't know that many of the Democrats and the talking heads on the left are really talking about Epstein this morning. So we took that narrative away from them, and it allows us to move forward as we try to get the America First Agenda passed into law."
