First-year UAB football head coach Trent Dilfer’s contract was approved last week by the compensation committee of the University of Alabama Board of Trustees. He will receive $1.2 million per year over the next five years.

Dilfer chose to take a lower base salary, so a total of $2.5 million over the life of his contract would go toward enhancing the contracts of assistant coaches and staff members. The total breaks down to an extra $500,000 per year that will go to assistant coach contracts.
