A Baldwin County mother thanked God and the community after a long and painstaking surgery on her two-year-old daughter proved a success.
Eleanor Butler, 2, underwent procedures to treat complications from brittle bone disease.
Tasha Johnson shared X-ray images showing that her daughter's neck had been straightened from a 57-degree bend. The cervical deformity was first treated with a halo traction prior to the surgery, which helped relieve compression on her spinal cord.

"Over the last few days, I've been trying to find the words to express how grateful I am and honestly, I don't know that I ever will," Johnson said. "I have felt more love, support, prayers, encouragement, and kindness than I have ever experienced in my entire life."
The family had to travel to Atlanta for the surgery, and while Johnson said there is still a long road ahead, she is thankful for those who took the time to donate, check on her daughter and pray.
"There is something so powerful about watching people love your child," said Johnson. "To see thousands of people cheering for her, praying for her, believing in her and celebrating her victories has touched my heart in ways I can't even explain. This little girl has changed so many lives, including mine."
The surgery also improved Butler's reflexes and movement. For a little girl who was born with multiple fractures, Johnson said her daughter's future looks bright.
"We are beyond grateful for Dr. Brahma, the surgical team, the nurses, therapists, and every person at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta who has poured their heart into caring for our sweet girl," Johnson added. "Most of all, we thank God. He is the ultimate physician! Today, when I look at these images, I don't just see metal and bone. I see answered prayers. I see hope. I see a future that once felt so uncertain becoming a little bit brighter."
