While most families in Alabama will be gobbling up the turkey this Thanksgiving, at least two turkeys will be safe and sound.
Gov. Kay Ivey will host the 77th annual Turkey Pardoning event and is asking for help naming the pair of turkeys who will be spared from becoming Thanksgiving dinner.
In years past, Alabama has had Gobbler and Cobbler, Giblet and Puddin' and the long-living Clyde and Hanrietta. However, this year, Ivey asked local students to come up with patriotic names for the turkeys. Now, Alabamians can cast their votes in one of the most consequential elections this Thanksgiving season.
The options are "George and Martha," "Liberty and Justice," "Tom Jefferson and Madis-hen," and "Fil and Buster."
So far, the "Fil and Buster" ticket is ahead on the X poll, but votes will be accepted on the platform until 9 a.m. Friday.
