NASCAR driver Christopher Bell won his second career top-starting spot Saturday during the KLĒNSKIN Pole Qualifying at the Talladega Superspeedway.
Bell, a 27-year-old from Norman, Oklahoma, is a member of the Joe Gibbs Racing team (JGR) owned by former Washington Redskins coach Joe Gibbs.
Bell narrowly defeated his teammate, Martin Truex Jr., by .081 seconds with a lap of 180.92 mph.
“I’m just very thankful to be in the position I am driving for Joe Gibbs Racing,” said Bell.
JGR team members will lead the field to green in Sunday’s GEICO 500.
The race will be at 3 p.m. and will be broadcasted on FOX, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
