The Bay Minette Police Department is asking the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office to step in and increase manpower after a series of shootings over the past two weeks.

Newly elected Mayor Joshua Brown said that there will be increased police presence in high-crime areas over the coming weeks.

"From the mayor's desk, there is a zero tolerance for this type of behavior and we will make sure that we keep our beautiful city safe and loved," Brown said.

Brown said he wanted to make a video for the public in the "spirit of transparency and accountability."

Investigators believe the recent shootings were isolated incidents. No other information has been released.

"We are also asking for the community's help," the PD stated. "If you have any information – no matter how small – please come forward."

Former Bay Minette Police Chief Al Tolbert resigned after Brown was elected, stating he felt it was best to allow for a smooth transition to a new administration. He is now with the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office.

Jimmy Stracener was named Bay Minette's interim police chief.
