The new 40,000-square-foot Foley Public Library will open on August 4.
City leaders are hosting a grand opening and ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. The library is located at 230 E. Orange Avenue.
The facility is twice the size of the former library next to City Hall on East Laurel Avenue. That building will be renovated for municipal purposes.
The new library includes a sensory room and separate children's and teens’ activity areas, a STEAM-STEM lab and a large multi-purpose room that seats 277. A second-story porch on the building overlooks the Perry Wilbourne Antique Rose Trail and the city’s dog park.
Following the ribbon cutting, the library will host a scavenger hunt raffle and activities. A bookmark contest will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Special children’s grand opening activities will take place at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in the new Children’s Story Grove.
