The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division is investigating a fatal crash that killed one and seriously injured a Mobile football star turned NFL prospect.

Investigators believe Michael Jefferson, 23, former Louisiana wide receiver, was driving a 2014 Dodge Charger that hit another car head-on. The driver of the other car was Charles A. Dunn, 55. After the head-on collision, another car hit Dunn's car. Dunn was pronounced dead on the scene.

The crash happened Sunday evening, and Jefferson has undergone multiple surgeries since, according to several reports.

Jefferson played the last two seasons at Louisiana after transferring from Alabama State. He finished with his best season, catching 51 passes for 810 yards and seven touchdowns.

He's projected as a potential late-round pick in the NFL Draft, which starts April 27.
