A day ahead of Tuscaloosa's municipal elections, legendary former Alabama football coach Nick Saban and his wife, affectionately known as Miss Terry, have thrust their support behind Mayor Walt Maddox in his bid for re-election.
In a video explaining why he is endorsing Maddox, Saban described Tuscaloosa as "the best college town we ever lived in," and he credited the mayor with playing a major role in this.
"For 18 years, Terry and I have called Tuscaloosa home. This is the best college town we've ever lived in, and it's largely due to Mayor Maddox," Saban stated in his endorsement video, which can be viewed here. "Terry and I have worked closely with Mayor Maddox on several projects. He truly cares about the people in our community and makes great decisions to elevate Tuscaloosa. Terry and I are proud that soon the Saban Center will be another highlight for people in this community to enjoy. So, many thanks to Walt, and Roll Tide."
"I am beyond honored to receive an endorsement from the Sabans," Maddox said in a statement. "Nick and Terry Saban have devoted so much to Tuscaloosa, and they believe in the work we will continue to do in the next four years."
Polls open at 7 a.m. on Tuesday and will remain open until 7 p.m.
