Number 11 Alabama baseball got back on track with a 12-6 win over UAB on Tuesday to snap a three-game losing streak.

A surge from the Alabama lineup compensated for several defensive lapses. The Crimson Tide slugged 10 hits and produced 12 runs on the night while the defense recorded six errors.

Justin Lebron got the Alabama offense going right out of the gate with a solo shot in the first inning. The first inning fireworks from Lebron would start a back-and-forth scoring battle with UAB over the next few innings.

UAB responded with runs in the second and third to grab a 2-1 lead over the Crimson Tide. Alabama grabbed the lead back immediately in the fourth inning, plating three runs. A sacrifice from Jason Torres brought home the first run of the inning. Andrew Purdy continued the scoring with a two-run home run later in the inning.

The 4-2 lead from the Crimson Tide didn’t last long as the Blazers responded with a three-spot of their own in their half of the fourth inning. Both teams matched each other with one run apiece in the fifth, with a score of 6-5 in favor of UAB.

In the sixth inning, Alabama scored three runs on a Caleb Barnett double to take the lead and never looked back. The Crimson Tide offense scored seven unanswered runs over the final four innings while the bullpen held the Blazers scoreless.

JT Blackwood got the start for Alabama and pitched three innings, allowing one run on three hits before handing it over to the bullpen. Sam Mitchell came in the game for the final out of the fifth inning and continued for 2.1 innings on the night. Mitchell was awarded his first win of the season, allowing one hit and no runs in relief.

Andrew Purdy had a big night at the plate, driving in five runs on a home run and a triple. Brady Neal went 4-for-5 including three doubles and an RBI. Justin Lebron drove in a pair and hit a home run for the Crimson Tide.

The Crimson Tide improve to 27-11 overall and remain 8-7 in the SEC on the season.

Alabama will travel to No. 2 Texas for a weekend series April 17-19, beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m.
