Two runs were enough to secure a win tonight.

The No. 17 Auburn Tigers picked up a 2-1 victory over the South Alabama Jaguars at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery.

South Alabama got on the board first when Lucas Ismaili hit a solo home run over the left-field wall.

Auburn had a two-run inning in the bottom of the seventh. Cooper Weiss walked to force in Mason Maners and Ike Irish walked to force in Chris Stanfield.

Auburn's pitching staff got the job done in this game.

Redshirt senior right-hander Christian Herberholz made his first start of the season and pitched three scoreless innings in which he struck out four batters. Freshman right-hander Alex Petrovic pitched three innings. He also struck out four batters but was the only Tigers pitcher to give up a run.

Parker Carlson earned his first win of the season in a two-inning effort in which he struck four batters out and did not let any runners on base. Dylan Watts earned his first save of the season.

Auburn struggled to get much of anything going at the plate tonight.

The Tigers managed only five hits and were walked seven times. They left 10 runners on base.

Auburn is now 14-6 on the season and 0-3 in SEC play.

The Tigers return to action this weekend when they host the No. 1 Arkansas Razorbacks at Plainsman Park. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. CT on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. CT on Sunday. Friday's game can be found on SEC Network, while the other two will be live-streamed on SEC Network+. The Auburn Sports Network broadcast for each game can be streamed anywhere on the Auburn Athletics app.
