The No. 25 Auburn Tigers had their first home series of SEC play at Jane B. Moore Field this weekend. They hosted the No. 20 Arkansas Razorbacks and dropped two out of three games.

Friday night's game was rained out which set up a double-header on Saturday. The Razorbacks won both games on Saturday by scores of 6-1 and 5-1 before Auburn picked up a historic 2-1 win on Sunday.

Arkansas got off to a fast start in the first game on Saturday when former Auburn player Bri Ellis hit a three-run shot over the left field wall. The Tigers were never able to get much going.

The second game was similar to the first, a steady flow of Arkansas offense throughout the game. Shelby Lowe got the start for Auburn and allowed four runs off of four hits in four innings of work.

“We took too long to answer back in both games,” said Auburn head coach Mickey Dean. “We did better in game two, but there are things we need to fix before tomorrow. It’s not really physical things. We’re going to have to focus on those little things.”

Maddie Penta got the start for Auburn and set the program record for career wins with a complete game effort in which she allowed just one run off of six hits.

"It's big,” Dean said. “She had a rough first inning in that first game. Ever since, she's done a really bang-up job. I’m just proud of the way she handled herself today and proud of her teammates for having her back."

"I actually had no idea until last week that I was about to break the record,” Penta said. "It means a lot just to be in the books, to be remembered and to do my part for this team. I give this win today to my defensive and the hitting, too. They put the numbers up there for me to get the job done. My defense made some outstanding plays behind me, and I owe a lot of those wins to my defense, my offense and my team.”

Auburn returns to action on Tuesday to take on the Troy Trojans at 6 p.m. CT. The broadcast can be found on ESPN+, and the Auburn Sports Network broadcast can be streamed anywhere on the Auburn Athletics app.
