No. 9 Alabama baseball was unable to keep up with the No. 8 seed Tennessee bats and was eliminated from the SEC Tournament by a score of 15-10.

The Crimson Tide pitching staff was able to hold one of the nation’s top home run hitting teams to just one home run on the day and only four total extra base hits. Unfortunately for Alabama, the Volunteers used 16 singles and 20 total hits on the day to rack up 15 runs against the Crimson Tide.

Heading into the top of the fifth inning, Tennessee held a 5-1 lead before Alabama put up a five run inning to take its first and only lead of the game. The Volunteers quickly responded in their half of the fifth with a run to tie the game at six apiece. In the bottom of the sixth, Tennessee delivered its own five-run inning to grab a comfortable 11-6 lead. The Volunteers tacked on another four runs in the eighth inning to put the game away. The Alabama offense made some noise late in the game, plating four runs in the ninth, but was unable to complete the comeback.

Richie Bonomolo, Jr. highlighted the Alabama offense, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI on the afternoon. Justin Lebron drove in two runs on his only hit of the game in the ninth inning.

Of the nine pitchers Alabama used on the afternoon, none were able to solve the Tennessee offense. Zane Adams came into a tied ballgame in the sixth and gave up three runs on one hit and two walks to suffer the loss for the Crimson Tide.

Alabama will find out its regional location and matchup when the field of 64 teams are announced at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 26, on ESPN2.
