No. 4 Auburn baseball dropped its second straight Super Regional series after dropping Game 2 against Ole Miss on Saturday at Plainsman Park, 5-3.

The Tigers managed just two runs on seven hits — two more than Ole Miss. Auburn outhit the Rebels in both games of the Super Regional.

Much like Friday’s loss, it was the timely Ole Miss swings that were the difference.

A double off the bat of Judd Utermark in the sixth evened the score at two before a pair of consecutive homers in the eighth stretched the Rebels’ lead by three heading into the final frame.

Auburn scored a run in the ninth for the second consecutive night after Taylor Belza scored Bun Terrell in a sacrifice fly to right field.

Auburn starter Alex Petrovic tossed 5.1 innings, holding the Rebels scoreless for the first five frames. He retired the first ten batters he faced.

Jackson Sanders took the loss, yielding three runs on a pair of hits with three strikeouts, before Ryan Hetzler retired the final two in the eighth.

Auburn started the scoring in the fourth on a single from Bub Terrell that scored Chris Rembert initially. Terrell advanced to second on the throw and Ethin Bingaman scored during the play.

Once again, Auburn left seven runner stranded, marking 17 in two games. The Tigers struck out nine times and were 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position.

The loss ended the Tigers hopes of making it to Omaha for the first time since 2022. Auburn entered the Super Regional as one of two programs to host a super in the last two years.
