The National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham is surveying the area of Trussville and Pinson after severe weather caused damage on Thursday.
The storm system brought hail and strong winds to eastern Jefferson County, damaging homes and downing trees and power lines.
The Center Point Fire District responded to stop traffic on Bud Homes Road while Alabama Power worked to repair lines.
The NWS determined damage in Pinson was caused by straight-line winds up to 75 mph, not a tornado. The NWS stated that damage to homes resulted from trees being snapped and uprooted. Surveyors determined that straight-line winds were the cause after noticing that all tree damage was oriented southwestward, the same direction as the storm.
Crews are still surveying a damage area around Trussville.
