Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was a leading voice in conservative politics. But more than that, he was an evangelist who based his opinions and actions on his Christian beliefs. For that reason, many consider his assassination more spiritual than political, making Kirk a true Christian martyr, perhaps the most influential in history, second to Christ himself, according to popular political commentator Brandon Tatum.
Tatum, who hosts "The Officer Tatum" show with over 7 million subscribers on YouTube, recently joined "1819 News: The Podcast," where he admonished churches to boldly proclaim Kirk's legacy.
The relevant portion begins around the 29:40 mark.
"I'm going to be as straightforward as I can. If you went to a church and the church didn't say nothing about the biggest Christian martyr of our lifetime, you need to leave that church. Your pastor don't have a connection with God," Tatum said.
"If he don't know what to say when the biggest martyr in the history of the church — I'm telling you, outside of Jesus Christ, Charlie Kirk is the biggest Christian martyr to ever live," he continued. "Let me tell you, you just look at the numbers. Eighty million people looked at his YouTube videos three days after he died. He's gained millions of more people on social media. People are coming to Christ. Everybody in the world knows who Charlie Kirk is. In the world. There may have been other significant martyrs, right? But they did not live at a time where social media spread like a wildfire."
"People in China, people all over the world, they saw him die," Tatum added. "They saw him get martyred. And God allowed them to feel it all over the world at one time. Billions of people saw Charlie Kirk die. And billions of people are now wondering why did they kill this man? And billions of people are going and saying, 'Let me look into what this man was talking about.'"
According to Tatum, he would leave a church not talking about Kirk "in a heartbeat."
"Billions of people are now seeing he was talking about Jesus," he stated. "The biggest martyr of our lifetime, probably ever, and your pastor don't have the spiritual connection to at least say something about a man who was preaching about Jesus every day and was killed for it. You got to go to another church. I'm done with the playing. I'm done with the bull crap. You go to another church. You don't have to like Charlie. You have to know Charlie. But you have the Spirit of God in you. I believe God gives you the wisdom to say, I need to address this, at least for my audience's sake. The devils address Charlie. They say he was a racist and all this. The devil could come out and talk about him at the church, and your pastor don't say nothing? I'd leave that church."
