During a Wednesday appearance on "The Benny Show" with Benny Johnson, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) pledged to "run" the talking filibuster for days if needed to pass the SAVE America Act.
Should the legislation be signed into law, voters would be required to show proof of citizenship when registering to vote and present photo identification when casting ballots. Additionally, the bill would end mail-only registrations.
"I promise you, I will be on the floor as long as it takes," Tuberville said. "If we can get it done that way, if we can help President Trump get this bill through. Because, as he said, nothing else matters."
"If we don't get the SAVE America Act, we can do all this other stuff that we want, but these communists are going to come in right behind us after they cheat in elections and change everything back," he continued. "So that's the reason this is so important. In any way we can get it done, I am for it."

According to the senator, while voters can expect the legislation to hit the floor next week, its chances of passing currently appear bleak, with Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) indicating there aren't enough votes to pass the bill.
"We need to find out where everybody stands," Tuberville said of his fellow senators. "Enough is enough. We had caucus meetings yesterday, and we talked about this. It will be voted on next week. It will be put on the floor. We'll vote on it. There will be some amendments. We're going to try to put in no men in women's sports and a couple of other things that will go along with it."
Tuberville called out a handful of Republican senators for opposing the SAVE America Act, arguing the group is disenfranchising their own voters.
"President Trump wants in it, but at the end of the day, we have to take this bill and let the American people know where we all stand and whether we are for fair elections," he contended. "I would hope that we could get 53 votes out of Republicans, because that's how many we have, but I don't think we can. We've got four or five who are on the fence. U.S. Sens. McConnell, Thom Tillis, Susan Collins, Murkowski and John Curtis. I don't know where Sullivan stands."
"If we put it out there, they're going to have to show their true colors when it comes to true voting in this country," Tubervile added.
Tuberville then slammed McConnell for prioritizing tradition over pragmatism in the Senate.
"Leader McConnell believes in the tradition of the Senate," he stated. "He believes in doing things that we used to do. My thoughts are, listen, things change. Our country has changed in the last 10 years, like you and I would never believe. There are probably 12 to 15 states in this country where it's over."
"True American capitalism cannot survive in those 15 states, with the way they vote," Tuberville concluded.
