Just over a week into being shut down by congressional Democrats, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is having to take measures to preserve limited funds, a move that U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) is highlighting the agency's importance.

In a thread on X, Britt pointed out that the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) had brought down some of the most notorious criminals in the world, including Sean "P Diddy" Combs, El Chapo, Josh Duggar, Jared Fogle and R. Kelly.

"One of the most crucial law enforcement agencies in our country is ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI)," Britt outlined. "They work to bring down human traffickers, drug smugglers, child predators, and more across our nation and around the world. Democrats shut down the government and are letting funding for HSI lapse—an agency that has brought down some of the most notorious criminals in the world."

"The work DHS does, like HSI, keeps Americans safe and brings the worst of the worst to justice. Democrats voted to defund DHS all in the name of politics," she concluded. "The time for their showmanship is over."
