The Opelika Police Department arrested three people after an overnight shooting and police chase.
Officers first responded to Wild Wing Café on Capps Way at 1:41 a.m. after receiving multiple calls about a large fight and shots being fired. When units arrived on the scene, a vehicle took off at a high rate of speed, leading to a chase onto Interstate 85. During the chase, the firearm believed to be the weapon used in the shooting was thrown from the vehicle. Eventually, police stopped the vehicle and detained five individuals.
Meanwhile, a gunshot victim arrived at East Alabama Medical Center. The victim was interviewed and declined to press charges.
Back at Wild Wing Café, officers noted the victim’s red Dodge Charger had bullet holes.
Three of the individuals detained were arrested. All three suspects are from Auburn. Devante Goodman, 28, is charged with felony attempting to elude; Ashton Williams, 19, is charged with minor consumption of alcohol; and Stephen Harris, 26, was served with an outstanding warrant through the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
