State Sen. Arthur Orr (R-Decatur) reacted to complaints from Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin regarding Senate Bill 330, which restructures the makeup of the Birmingham Water Works Board, and House Bill 445, which regulates the manufacturing, wholesale distribution and retail sale of consumable hemp products containing THC or CBD.
The passage of both bills by the legislature has resulted in claims of racism by Woodfin and other elected City of Birmingham officials.
"Let me cut to the chase — when they don't have an argument, so many times they'll play the race card,".
That's a red herring, a fallacy, call it what you will, but none of that makes sense. The numbers do not lie when it comes to the Birmingham Water Works, and the numbers do not lie when it comes to the rampant use of gummies and THC, unregulated all across this state. So, malarkey on both of those responses, and that's my opinion, and I'm sticking with it."
