Auburn's Oscar Chapman has been named to the list of 10 semifinalists for the 2022 Ray Guy Award. The award is given to the best punter in college football by the Augusta Sports Council. The semi-finalists for the award were chosen from a field of 81 nominated candidates.

Chapman has been a weapon for the Tiger's struggling offense all season, and in his third year on the Plains, he has quietly become one of the top punters in college football. His 53 total punts are going for an average of 43.9 yards per kick, and he has just two touchbacks. He has had 18 punts downed inside the 20, which is a career-high and 15 more than his total last season.

Chapman’s stability and consistency has been a welcomed sight for the Tigers in a year of special teams issues, as the junior from Australia has been very reliable in pinning opposing offenses deep in their own territory. Auburn will likely turn to Chapman once again during this year’s Iron Bowl, as the offense will face the Alabama defense, led by Will Anderson.

As for the Ray Guy Award, a national voting body of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) sports information directors, national media and previous Ray Guy Award winners will decide the three award finalists who will be announced on Tuesday, November 29.

Voters will then vote again to determine the winner who will be announced live on Thursday, December 8, at The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN.
