A new VA specialty care clinic will soon open in Huntsville, reducing travel time for veterans in north Alabama and southern Tennessee seeking advanced care. The clinic will be located in the UAB building on Governor’s Drive.
Currently, the only two VA facilities capable of meeting that need in the region are in Birmingham and Nashville, with primary care needs for veterans being currently addressed in the Rocket City.
On Thursday, U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Huntsville), who represents the district where the clinic will be, praised news of the medical facility and its expected impact on area veterans.

Huntsville is also expected to have a VA mental health clinic, dental clinic and a women’s specialty clinic in the future.
