The Gulf of America Homeland Security Task Force arrested over 30 people Tuesday afternoon at the site of the new Gulf Shores High School.

The FBI Mobile said the subjects are suspected of being in the country illegally. It is unclear what charges, if any, they may face. Those arrested will be transferred to a federal holding facility for processing.

Gulf Shores celebrated the groundbreaking of the new 287,000 square-foot school last spring. It is set to open by fall 2026.

The school is at the corner of Coastal Gateway Boulevard and the Foley Beach Express.

Rabren Construction was awarded the $131 million contract for the job, although it is unclear whether those arrested were employees of the construction company or subcontractors.

The City declined to comment to 1819 News. Rabren Construction has not responded to a media inquiry regarding the matter.
