As spring breakers begin flocking to Alabama’s Gulf Coast, local law enforcement is ramping up operations to keep the peace.

The Gulf Shores Police Department recently arrested 18 people and confiscated six firearms with the help of the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

“On the afternoon of March 11, 2026, we became aware of large groups of unaccompanied juveniles and young adults gathering along the beachfront,” the Gulf Shores Police Department stated. “As a popular beach destination, we fully expect increased activity during the spring break season, and we recognize that most visitors, 99%, come to enjoy the warm weather, beaches, and coastal environment responsibly.”

After receiving reports of disorderly conduct, littering and disturbances, police worked with other agencies to increase law enforcement presence and use technology to ensure visitors could safely enjoy their stay. The 18 people were arrested on 23 charges in total. The confiscated firearms were not legally possessed, and police said one was stolen.

“Such actions are inconsistent with the expectations of our residents, our elected leaders, and the law,” the department continued.

Gulf Shores PD said the City’s message is clear.

“We welcome everyone who wants to enjoy our beaches respectfully,” the department said. “If your plan is to cause trouble or break the law, stay home — it’s a long way to travel just to end up in jail.”
