Governor Kay Ivey is encouraging Alabamians to get out and vote on Tuesday, when voters across the state cast their ballots for their preferred candidate.
The Republican primary election will still take place on Tuesday, with multiple state and congressional seats on the ballot, including attorney general, governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, state auditor, treasurer, agriculture commissioner, state representatives, state senators, and various judicial spots. The staggered seats on the Alabama State Board of Education and the Public Service Commission are also on the ballot.
Congressional districts 1, 2, 6 and 7 will be on the ballot. However, those districts will ultimately be decided in a special election on August 11, using previously court-prohibited congressional maps.
"As citizens, it is our patriotic duty to vote. In Alabama, we have an important Primary Election this Tuesday, May 19 with several big races on the ballot." Ivey said. "Alabama is experiencing historic momentum, and you selecting strong elected leaders will help our state be even more successful in the years ahead. If you don't vote, you can't gripe, so head to the polls this Tuesday, May 19."
Polls across the state will be open this coming Tuesday, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
