Former Mobile Police chief Paul Prine officially registered with the Mobile County Republican Party to run for Mobile County Sheriff.
“Chief Prine brings actual results with a proven record of leadership, accountability and commitment to public safety,” the campaign said in a press release. “With 30 years of public service, his focus is to restore confidence in the community by providing transparent, accountable, and professional leadership to keep Mobile County safe.”
The campaign comes on the heels of Prine’s run for Mobile mayor last fall. The grassroots campaign was impressive, but in the end, Spiro Cheriogotis won the election.
Prine said he would take a proactive approach to law enforcement across the county to address crime and the perception of crime.
The primary election will be held on May 19, and the general election will be held on November 3.
