AUBURN — A combined no-hitter from Maddie Penta and Shelby Lowe paved the way for a run-rule win in Auburn's midweek contest against an in-state opponent.

The Auburn Tigers softball team earned a 9-0 win over the UAB Blazers in five innings at Jane B. Moore Field on Tuesday night.

“We got off to a nice start,” Auburn head coach Mickey Dean said. “We continued to build off that. Our pitchers worked ahead. We averaged 15 pitches an inning, which is exactly where we want to be. We did a nice job.”

Penta got the start and earned her 12th win of the season in a four-inning effort that struck five batters out while only walking one. Lowe earned her first save of the season after pitching the last inning; she struck two batters out.

Auburn got off to a quick start at the plate, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Tigers put runs on the board in each inning.

No Auburn player had a multiple-hit performance, but seven Tigers each recorded one. Icess Tresvik had three RBI, and Nelia Peralta and Mariah Penta each had two.

The Tigers are now 21-12-1 on the season and 3-9 in SEC play.

Auburn travels to Baton Rouge, La., this weekend for a series with the LSU Tigers. Games one and two are set for Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. CT, and game three is set for Sunday at 1 p.m. CT. Each game can be found on SEC Network+.
