U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) recently received an endorsement from the Alabama Bankers Association as he pursues the state's governor’s seat in 2026.
The endorsements have been rolling in for the former Auburn Football coach since he announced his candidacy, even though the Republican primary is more than 10 months away. Thus far, Tuberville has a massive lead against his other opponents in the primary.
The Alabama Bankers Association is the latest to throw its support behind Tuberville, praising him for his “strong and effective” Senate leadership, which it believes will translate to being a strong state leader.
“Sen. Tuberville is a bold leader who is persistent, decisive and determined,” said ABA president and CEO Scott Latham. “He will look for every opportunity to create teams and build industry alliances designed to propel Alabama forward.”
“Coach is not afraid to speak his mind regardless of the issue,” ABA chairman Dwight Gamble also stated. “He has seen government at work at the highest levels which translates into strong and effective leadership from someone who loves this state and wants to see our people excel and prosper in every way.”
Tuberville accepted the endorsement, vowing to work to improve Alabama’s economy should he take office.
“I'm grateful for the support of the Alabama Bankers Association,” Tuberville said. “Ever since I got to the Senate in 2021, I've been fighting to create more jobs in Alabama. In order for Alabama’s economy to continue to grow, businesses need access to more capital. We’ve got to support our Alabama banks. When I'm Governor, I'll work with President Trump to usher in the Golden Age of Alabama's economy.”
