The Pike Road Town Council recently extended a ban on new gas station construction by one year.
Members of the Pike Road Town Council initially passed an ordinance in April 2025 that pauses all new gas station construction for one year.
The ordinance pausing new gas station construction in Pike Road was recently extended for another year, according to Pike Road Mayor Gordon Stone.
“We adopted our comprehensive plan earlier this year. This company that we’ve hired is going to help us revisit various ordinances and make sure they are in proper order as it relates to the new direction of the comprehensive plan. So, this company is reviewing all of those type items as well as a number of other miscellaneous related issues,” Stone told 1819 News on Monday.
“They’ve been doing this around the country for other cities, and we felt like it would be a good exercise for us," he added. "End of the day we know the kind of character and look and feel that people want to have in Pike Road, so we feel with the use of this expertise we’ll be able to further refine what are already good documents and make them even better.”
