The pastor of Cedar Street Missionary Baptist Church in Mobile is accused of robbery, according to WALA.

Roy Powell, 72, is charged with first-degree robbery. According to court documents, he has pleaded not guilty and waived his arraignment.

Witnesses said Powell walked up to a stranger on Mobile Street and took his bag at gunpoint. The alleged victim said he was on his way to the post office when he came into contact with the pastor, and a verbal altercation ensued.

After the argument, the victim said Powell walked off, only to return and hit him in the head with a pistol and take his bag. The victim said Powell left but then returned to apologize.

Powell was arrested but has since been released on bond.
