On Monday, former U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl's (R-Mobile) campaign released a poll showing his campaign with a sizeable advantage over his opponents, State Rep. Rhett Marques (R-Enterprise) and U.S. Army veteran Joshua McKee, in the race for Alabama's first congressional district Republican nomination.
According to a release announcing the survey of 400 likely Republican primary voters conducted by Cygnal on August 21-22, Carl topped the list at 29%, followed by Rhett Marques at 5%, and Joshua McKee with 2%.
Sixty-four percent of respondents were undecided.
The poll has a margin of error of +/-4.89%.
"This poll confirms what we've been seeing on the ground—Jerry Carl is the clear choice for Republicans in South Alabama," campaign spokesman Bradley Cox said in a statement accompanying the announcement. "From the Gulf Coast to the Wiregrass, voters know Jerry Carl has delivered for them before and trust him to stand with President Trump and continue fighting for our conservative values."
The primary will be held on May 19, 2026.
